GENERAL QUESTIONS
It is best to plan ahead and give ourselves about a month to prepare. However, I have scheduled shoots two hours out and it has still been great. So contact me and lets do this.
A typical full session is about two hours.
Contact me personally and I will send you the details.
I have a studio in Wyckoff, NJ. I also travel to any location. We can work anywhere really, a park, the woods, downtown areas, urban settings, the beach, the boardwalk, a carnival, a field, an alley, a rooftop, your home, your backyard, you name it, we will do it. The more creative and personal to you the better.
We will go over this is great detail in our pre consultation discussion. I believe clothing choices can make or break a photograph and I will go out of my way to help you find the best options for you. You will arrive feeling confident and looking great for your session.
It’s pretty simple really. Come well rested, not hungry, and with a positive outlook. We are going to have fun and I want you to have no worries coming in. Hair and makeup never hurts so if you are thinking of it….go for it!
I have been photographing my entire life and have a BFA in photography. I am fully licensed in the state of New Jersey and carry full insurance. I am also fully up to date on all of my vaccinations. I take great care in cleanliness and you will see me washing my hands and taking great care with your baby and/or you and your family throughout the entire session. I also require you sign a contract to protect both of us.
NEWBORN PORTRAITS
Before your baby is born would be ideal, however if your baby is here no worries. I can usually schedule you in. Please contact me now, link above. Capturing your newborn within the first two weeks of life while they are still sleepy and curled up as if they were still in the womb, can make all the difference in your newborn portraits. Newborn babies photograph best between 6-10 days old. Since we never really know when your little one will arrive I will put you on the calendar to hold a spot for you. When your baby is born we will move your appointment accordingly.
If your baby came early or if your baby is already born, don’t panic! I am usually able to squeeze newborns into my schedule. If your baby is older than 10 days, no problem. That is just the ideal time, I love working with babies of all ages. Older babies take beautiful portraits too.
Newborn sessions tend to take around 3 hours. This leaves plenty of time for feedings, diaper changes and breaks for mommy and baby.
I have a studio in Wyckoff, NJ where I do the posed style of newborn portraits. I also travel to you and work in the comfort of your own home if you prefer. Those sessions are done with a lifestyle approach. The two styles can be seen in the gallery pages. We can also do outdoor photos if you choose, weather permitting of course.
Newborns photograph best with items specifically created for newborn photography, so you do not need to bring anything. I love to photograph newborns swaddled in blankets with lots of texture and snuggled up tight in buckets and baskets, so if you have a special blanket or two we can use them. I have an extensive supply of newborn hats, bows and headbands that coordinate beautifully with the blankets and props. You are welcome to use any hats or props that you would like to have the baby photographed in. I encourage my clients to include special, personal items which make the session and images especially meaningful.
I will send you complete instructions on best to prepare for the session when you book the session. We will also discuss all of it at the pre session consultation. There is not much to do, so no need to worry about this at all.
The last thing I want to do is upset your baby. I do not want to hurt your baby or even just make him uncomfortable. If your son has been circumcised, I ask that we schedule the session at least 5 days after the procedure. This will give him time to heal. If this is not possible I can work around it. I will be swaddling your boy naked in scarves and delicate fabrics. The fabrics are soft, however a fresh circumcision is very fragile and often uncomfortable for a newborn. This is why it's best to schedule 5-7 days after the procedure. If you have not already circumcised your baby it would be best to wait if possible.
Yes Please! I love to capture the emotion of those special first days with your new little one. Images of a new mommy or daddy cuddling with and admiring their newborn child are priceless. Although you may not be feeling your best, you will want these pictures in your future. Parents and siblings are always included and encouraged.
MATERNITY PORTRAITS
Scheduling early is best because it guaranties you a place in my schedule. We will schedule your session date based on your bump. I recommend shooting during the 28-34th weeks. You should be showing nicely but not feeling super uncomfortable. If you are past 34, no problem! Contact me and we will schedule something soon.
No! We will only create images you are 100% comfortable with. However, I do recommend trying a few. Keep in mind you will not have to show anyone you don’t want to and you may like them for yourself. We will go over all of this during your pre consultation.
I have a client closet full of many options. It is carefully curated and contains items that photograph beautifully. This saves you the burden of searching for an outfit. If you would prefer to purchase your own outfit, I will help you in the selection process. We will create a Pinterest board to define your overall look and find pieces that will make it come to life.
We can do the maternity session anywhere! I also have a studio in Wyckoff, NJ if you like the studio look.
Yes! I love including your loved ones into the maternity session. We will have time for portraits of mom alone along with family/couples photos.
