FAQ

GENERAL QUESTIONS

WHEN SHOULD I CALL TO SCHEDULE MY SESSION?
It is best to plan ahead and give ourselves about a month to prepare. However I have scheduled shoots two days out and it has still been great. So contact me and lets do this.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL SESSION?
A typical full session is about two hours.

HOW CAN I VIEW YOUR PACKAGES?
Contact me personally and I will send you the details.

WHERE ARE YOUR SESSIONS HELD?
I travel to all locations. We can work anywhere really, a park, the woods, downtown areas, urban settings, the beach, the boardwalk, a carnival, a field, an alley, a rooftop, your home, your backyard, you name it, we will do it. The more creative and personal to you the better.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
We will go over this is great detail in our pre consultation discussion. I believe clothing choices can make or break a photograph and I will go out of my way to help you find the best options for you. You will arrive feeling confident and looking great for your session.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY SESSION?
It’s pretty simple really. Come well rested, not hungry, and with a positive outlook. We are going to have fun and I want you to have no worries coming in. Hair and makeup never hurts so if you are thinking of it….go for it!

HOW ABOUT A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU?
I have been photographing my entire life and have a BFA in photography. I am fully licensed in the state of New Jersey and carry full insurance. I am also fully up to date on all of my vaccinations. I take great care in cleanliness and you will see me washing my hands and taking great care with your baby throughout the entire session. I also require you sign a contract to protect both of us.

NEWBORN PORTRAITS

WHEN SHOULD I CALL TO SCHEDULE MY NEWBORN SESSION?
Before your baby is born would be ideal, however if your baby is here no worries. I can usually schedule you in. Please contact me now, link here. Capturing your newborn within the first two weeks of life while they are still sleepy and curled up as if they were still in the womb, can make all the difference in your newborn portraits. Newborn babies photograph best between 6-10 days old. Since we never really know when your little one will arrive I will put you on the calendar to hold a spot for you. When your baby is born we will move your appointment accordingly.

If your baby came early or if your baby is already born, don’t panic! I will always do my best to squeeze newborns into my schedule and older babies take beautiful portraits too.

HOW LONG IS A TYPICAL SESSION?
I take at least three hours for a newborn session to leave plenty of time for feedings, diaper changes and breaks for mommy and baby.

WHERE ARE YOUR SESSIONS HELD?
I travel to and work in the comfort of your own home. We can also do outdoor photos if you choose, weather permitting of course.

WHAT SHOULD BABY WEAR?
Newborns photograph best without any clothes at all. I also love to photograph newborns swaddled in blankets with lots of texture and snuggled up tight in buckets and baskets, so if you have a special blanket or two we can use them.  I have an extensive supply of newborn hats, bows and headbands that coordinate beautifully with our blankets and props that I will use to stylize your images. You are welcome to use any hats or props that you would like to have the baby photographed in. I encourage my clients to include special, personal items which make the session and images especially meaningful.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY NEWBORN SESSION?
I will send you complete instructions on best to prepare for the session when you book the session. We will also discuss all of it at the pre session consultation. There is not much to do, so no need to worry about this at all.

WHAT ABOUT THE CIRCUMCISION?
If you have not already circumcised your baby it would be best to wait if possible.  I will be tightly swaddling your boy naked in scarves and delicate fabrics. The fabrics are soft, however a fresh circumcision is very fragile and often uncomfortable for a newborn. When we wrap and unwrap, along with change his position or pose, the circumcision can become irritated even further which leads to a VERY unhappy baby who is not able to be photographed. We do not want to make your baby hurt or uncomfortable. If your son has been circumcised I ask that we schedule the session at least 5 days after the procedure so to give him some time to heal. If this is not possible I can work around it, the session just may not go as smooth.

CAN I BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH MY BABY?
Yes Please! I love to capture the emotion of those special first days with your new little one.  Images of a new mommy or daddy cuddling with and admiring their newborn child are priceless. Although you may not be feeling your best, you will want these pictures in your future.

MATERNITY PORTRAITS

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO SCHEDULE MY SESSION?
It is best to wait until you have a nice beautiful bump. I recommend shooting during the 28-34th weeks. You should be showing nicely but not feeling super uncomfortable which some women start to feel towards the end of their pregnancy. If you are past 34 no problem! Contact me and we will schedule something soon.

WILL I HAVE TO SHOW MY BARE BELLY?
No! We will only create images you are 100% comfortable with. However I do recommend trying a few. Keep in mind you will not have to show anyone you don’t want to and you may like them for yourself.  We will go over all of this during your pre consultation.
